At any rate, a bicycle cup holder can be compared to the ubiquitous mounted bottle that comes with nearly every mountain bike. This is an unfair comparison. While a plastic bottle is by no means an unwelcome addition to a bike, these bottles are often harder to reach when pedaling than a cupholder that mounts directly in front of you. Also, these plastic bottles are hospitable environments for germs to breed and grow, and therefore must be washed often, even when drinking only water from them. What sets the cup holders apart is that they can go on any bicycle, not just a mountain bike. This makes them perfect for a relaxing ride through the sand dunes on a beach cruiser, or perhaps a cruise around the block on a tandem bicycle.
